Mike Bridges Inducted into IPF Hall of Fame

Mike Bridges receives Hall of Fame Award from IPF President Detlev Albridge
Columbus, Ohio March 8 2009-Team CON-CRET’s Mike Bridges was on the main stage at the 2009 Arnold Fitness Sports Festival Sunday morning and formally inducted into the International Powerlifting Federation Hall of Fame. Mike is one of six Americans and the 13th male powerlifter in the world to be honored. IPF President Detlev Albrings is no stranger to Mike Bridges as he has handed out many Gold Medals to Mike in Open World Championships. This day was special as Mike was recognized for his many accomplishments in powerlifting, accumulating over 100 IPF records, 5 Open World Titles, 12 IPF World Championships (148,165,181,198 class), 16 USAPL National Titles and still holds the USAPL/IPF record at 181 lbs with a 837 lb squat. At 10:00 AM , USAPL president Dr. Larry Maile, announced the much anticipated honor which was presented to Mike by Detlev Albrings, IPF president.
Mike joins the ranks of other accomplished USAPL/IPF Hall of Fame receipients like Brad Gillingham, Larry Pacifico, Lamar Gran and Walter Thomas. ” I would like to thank all the members of the IPF and USAPL staff that have been a part of my long career and I am grateful to my friends and especially wife Chris was has endured the trainning and competitions during these years, said Bridges.”
You can expect Mike to be present in May at the USAPL Master’s Championships in St. Louis defending another Master’s title. When he is not training or competing, he can be found in Peroria, IL his home town coaching girls and boys and few upcoming masters, like Alex Leanos who competed and won at the Arnold in the CON-CRET Raw Championships on Friday.
